People to travel from Karachi to Lahore in ‘seven hours’ via new Main Line-1 railway

The new Main Line-1 railway project will transport people from Karachi to Lahore in just seven hours, announced Prime Minister Imran Khan. PM Khan said the biggest investment worth $6 billion in the railways is coming to Pakistan through the Main Line-1 project. He said the role of the railways is “crucial” in “Naya Pakistan” because it is a cheap and comfortable way to travel.

Karachi’s public transport rated world’s worst by Bloomberg

Karachi, Pakistan’s financial hub, has the worst rated public transport in the world, according to a report by internationally acclaimed magazine Bloomberg. The magazine’s report states that the corruption, mismanagement, and clashes of interest seized all positive momentum in the development of the city in the late 1990s. The condition of the roads, the enforcement, and the abidance of rules are all in a terrible state.

Russian troops arrive in Pakistan to participate in joint training exercise

Russian troops have arrived in Pakistan to participate in the joint Russian-Pakistani military exercise codenamed Druzhba (Friend­ship) 5. The two-week-long drills would formally commence on November 8 in Tarbela. Some 70 Russian troops and officers are participating in the exercise that would continue till Nov 21.

The remarkable discovery was made while digging a pit for a plantation in Ayubia National Park in northern Pakistan. The historic ’Moto Tunnel’ built in 1891, which was buried in a garbage dump due to neglect.

Council of Islamic Ideology approves construction of Hindu temple in Islamabad

Pakistan’s top Islamic advisory body, the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), has approved the construction of a temple in Islamabad, despite resistance. The council has though approved the construction yet it mentioned in its decision that it did not support provision of the government funds for the construction of the temple because “there is no such tradition in the country.”

Spanning an area of “approximately 352 acres”, Islamabad’s elitist Club, the Islamabad Club keeps its membership exclusive but pays a rent of meagre Rs. 3 per acre.  The club, which was established as a social club for federal government officers and diplomats in the late 60s, has been turned into a commercial entity, making money and lacking transparent criteria for membership.

The government has decided to auction various items available in the Toshakhana of the Cabinet Division. These items range from a L.U. Chopard watch worth Rs17.5 million to a Rolex watch of Rs3.5 million. Fresh travel advisory issued by Dubai rejects PCR test from specific labs

Latest travel advisory issued for those traveling to Dubai from Pakistan has rejected PCR test reports from Chughtai Lab and Islamabad Diagnostic Center. According to details, only reports of laboratories in Pakistan who have registered with the Dubai officials will be acceptable at the Dubai airport. Chughtai laboratory and IDC are not registered with Dubai authorities, therefore their reports will not be accepted.
