Pakistani short-film Bench makes it to LA festival

Bench, a Pakistani short-film made by actor and director Usman Mukhtar has been nominated in the best short-film category at the Independent Short Awards festival in Los Angeles (LA), USA. The film explores the struggles faced by a coupled played by Chaudhry and Mukhtar. At the moment, the film is doing festival rounds. It will be screen in Pakistan soon.

Man files petition against Ehd-e-Wafa, asks court to halt episodes

A man, identified as Zeeshan has moved Lahore’s high court and filed a petition against the popular drama serial ‘Ehd-e-Wafa’. Petitioner has claimed that the drama has negatively portrayed politicians and media personnel. He said that the roles being portrayed in the drama painted a negative image of Pakistan internationally. He has also requested to halt the episodes of drama from airing. The case has been taken up by the court. 

Stranger Things teaser reveals Hopper is alive in season four

Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper in the Netflix series, shared the teaser or Stranger Things season four on Instagram which reveals that Hopper is alive. The last season of the show left many unanswered questions but the biggest question was whether Hopper was alive or not. The 50-second teaser takes the audience back to Russia where people working on train tracks can be seen with a glimpse of a clean shaved Hopper at the end. 

Armeena Khan gets married secretly on Valentine’s Day

Armeena Khan took the internet by storm after it was unveiled that she got married secretly to her longtime fiancé Fesl Raza Khan on Valentine’s Day. Announcing the news on Instagram, Armeena in a loved-up post officially introduced Fesl as her husband to the world. Adding that she will host a wedding party later on. The actress got engaged to Fesl in 2017. 

Mahira ranks 18 in world’s most beautiful women list

Actor Mahira Khan secures 18th spot in the world’s 20 most beautiful women list, according to women’s fashion and wellness website StyleCraze. Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi held the top spot while Bella Hadid came in second and Depike Padukone secured the third position. The website said that Khan was one of Pakistan’s most popular and highest-paid actors.

Ali Zafar files petition against Meesha Shafi’s defamation suit

Singer Ali Zafar has filed another petition in the Lahore sessions court seeking to have singer Meesha Shafi’s petition against him thrown out. In his petition, Zafar says Shafi filed a retaliatory defamation case against him, but the case against her is still being heard. He wants the court to order the hearings of her petition to be stopped. After hearing the arguments, the court reserved its verdict.

Hamza Ali Abbasi says don’t mock religion, show sympathy

Actor Hamza Ali Abbasi took to social media on Tuesday to clarify somethings about religion and the coronavirus. Rishi Kapoor has been admitted to a hospital in New Delhi due to an infection. Revealing the cause of his hospitalisation, Rishi said that it is nothing dramatic. and he has an infection which is getting treated. He returned to India in September 2019 from New York after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year. He further added, “Pollution got me I guess.”

PEMRA thinks bold woman characters in dramas aren’t for Pakistani audience

Pemra doesn’t really appreciate the portrayal of strong women characters in Pakistani dramas. Female writers, directors and actors are trying to educate women on their rights and empower them but the said actor-turned-director Angeline Malik discouraged such characters during a session at Adab festival 2020, calling them too ‘bold’ for Pakistani audience.
