Social distance cinema: ‘Grease’ draws crowds to Madrid drive-in

It was a long-awaited chance to feel normal again for many, sitting in their cars belting out “Summer Nights” at a drive-in cinema in Madrid after a 10-week lockdown. It’s opening night at this 1950s-themed venue and as the sun sets, vehicles begin pulling into the huge car park, ushers ensuring each is carefully positioned several metres apart. 

Hina Altaf, Aagha Ali tie the knot on Jumatul-Wida

Pakistani actors Hina Altaf and Aagha Ali tied the knot in a simple nikkah ceremony on Friday, Jumatul-Wida. Taking to their Instagram accounts, they shared a similar story to announce the news to their fans. Hina announced that the couple has gotten ‘nikkahfied’ on Friday. She added that they promised each other for making their new life filled with happiness and laughter. 

Ayeza Khan, Danish Taimoor were not onboard PK-8303

Celebrity couple Ayeza Khan and Danish Taimoor have both addressed the fake news regarding them being onboard the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-8303. Soon after the crash, it was being circulated on social media that the couple were on the plane and claims of their deaths were also being made. The original tweet claiming Khan and Taimoor’s death has since been deleted.

Popular Turkish show Dirilis: Ertugrul’s cast sent their condolences to Pakistanis after the lives lost in Friday’s PK-8303 plane crash. The Dirilis Ertugrul cast took to social media and condoled over the deaths of passengers on the PIA plane. They expressed grief on the loss of precious human lives.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) announced that its former superstar Shad Gaspard passed away at the age of 39. According to the sports-entertainment company Gaspard had gone missing while swimming with his son at Venice Beach in California on May 17. In his final act, he instructed his lifeguards to save his sin’s life. 

Oscars 2021 may be postponed due to coronavirus: report

Oscars 2021 could be postponed due to the disruption caused by the coronavirus in Hollywood, trade publication Variety reported. The movie industry’s biggest night is currently scheduled for February 28. But with theaters shuttered, blockbusters delayed and productions halted, the prize-giving Academy has already been forced to make significant rules changes. One of multiple anonymous sources told Variety it was now “likely” the ceremony itself will be postponed.

This 90-year-old Japanese woman runs a YouTube gaming channel

Hamako Mori is a 90-year-old Japanese woman who has been awing the YouTube community with her gaming skills since 2015. Her name is also registered in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the world’s oldest YouTube gamer. Mori has been gaming for 39 years and her channel “Gamer Grandma” has over 270,000 YouTube subscribers where she posts a video every week.

Netflix’s Money Heist will be back with season 5, 6

Season five of the smash-hit Money Heist (or La Casa De Papel in Spain) has been confirmed by the show’s creator Alex Pina ahead of its return to Netflix. The news was confirmed by Pina, who told Deadline on May 13 how season five was coming but he couldn’t reveal any more details. He said if he does Netflix would put a bomb in his house.

‘Diriliş: Ertuğrul’s Esra Bilgic excited to meet Pakistani fans

Turkish actor Esra Bilgic who plays Halima Sultan in the popular series Diriliş: Ertuğrul may be on her way to Pakistan once the current pandemic crisis settles. In a lovely exchange with a Pakistani fan on Instagram, Bilgic revealed how she was humbled by the love she had received in the country. On a picture of Bilgic a Pakistani fan had talked about the show’s impact in Pakistan to which Esra replied. 

Turkish dramas could destroy the local industry, says Yasir Hussain

Ever since PTV started airing Dirilis Ertugrul, it has been the subject of many debates and it could destroy the local industry, according to Yasir Hussain. Hussain also shared something, and from the looks of it, he is not happy. Taking to Instagram, he shared,” PTV should make decent dramas and use our own actors and technicians. Those actors which are capable and pay their taxes. Both [Imported] clothes and Turkish dramas can destroy the local industry.”
