PTI announces PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi as candidate for Punjab CM after Usman Buzdar resigns

The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has announced PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as its candidate for Punjab chief minister after incumbent Usman Buzdar presented his resignation to the prime minister. Prime minister’s aide on political communication, Shahbaz Gill, made the announcement on Twitter. The development comes less than an hour after the opposition formally tabled a no-confidence resolution against PM Imran in the National Assembly. 

YouTube channel ‘Prime Minister’s Office’ renames to ‘Imran Khan’ inviting various questions

With the National Assembly set to vote on a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, the YouTube channel of the Prime Minister’s office has been renamed to “Imran Khan.” The “about” section of the channel shows that it was created in 2019, then it does raise a question as to why party activists were running an official account of the country’s top-most office.

Karachi University uses Ehsaas Scholarship funds to pay employees

An irregularity has been found in disbursement of funds under Ehsaas Scholarships initiative of the federal government for students in Karachi University. It has emerged that Rs100 million funds were utilized for paying salaries of the employees of the varsity. Each student had to be given Rs40,000 under scholarship, however, KU has not disbursed the amount to students.

Pakistan reports lowest unemployment rate in South Asia: World Bank

The results of a survey based on the World Bank’s (WB) data, showed Pakistan as the country with the lowest unemployment rate in the entire region. According to the findings, 4.3 percent Pakistanis were unemployed, while regional rival and immediate neighbor India had the highest unemployment rate at 8%.
