23 years tax exemption granted to Chinese company investing in Gwadar

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Haider Zaidi has announced that government has granted tax exemption to China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHC) for 23 years to facilitate establishment of its industrial units at Gwadar Port. COPHC would get tax exemption for installation of machinery, as a step towards relocation of Chinese manufacturing industry in Gwadar and engaging local labour.

Ismail who hails from Karachi, was selected for making waves in the finance industry. Prime Minister Imran Khan named as “Man of the Year” in a recent list of the most persuasive Muslims in the world by Jordan Royal Isamic Strategic Studies Center. According to Professor Schleifer Khan earned the title not only by his brilliant performance in cricket but also through successful fundraising campaigns to establish a cancer hospital and mainly because of his desire for peace with India. 

Trump threatens to ‘totally destroy and obliterate’ Turkey’s economy

President Donald Trump threatened Turkey (NATO ally) to destroy its economy if Ankara takes any action in Syria that he considered “off-limits”.  Leaders from both parties and both houses of Congress joined in the criticism. The United States began pulling troops back from the northeast Syrian border giving Turkey a green light to move into the area who has repeatedly threatened to carry out invasion in the same region. 

Umar Akmal breaks Shahid Arfidi’s records

Umar Akmal made his comeback against Sri Lanka in the first T20I at Gaddafi Stadium only to be dismissed at the first ball. The captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and the chief Misbah-ul-Haq both decided to give Akmal another chance despite being missing from action in T20I for over three years. Akmal was dismissed on a duck 9th time breaking the previous record held by Shahid Afridi with 8 ducks. 

Boy Beaten up by Politician’s security guards

Najam, a teenager boy from Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 5 was beaten publicly by a Politician’s guards after he was unable to give way for them to pass through.  His mother revealed the suspects as according to her the guards work for Nawabzada Shahzain Bugti (Member of National Assembly). Najam’s mother claimed that despite the unlawful violence no action is taken against anyone by the Police. 

Prime Minister to offer PSM to China

Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to offer handing over Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) to China through government to government deal during his upcoming vist to Beijing on October 07, 2019.  He decided to discuss five major issues including offering PSM, finalising deal on modernisation of railway Mainline (ML-1), financing of Bunji hydropower project, agriculture and social sectors-related projects in and outside the ambit of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). 

US senators urge India to end occupied Kashmir ‘humanitarian crisis’

American lawmakers took legislative measures against India, expressing solicitude over the humanitarian crisis in Indian-Occupied Kashmir (IOK), for the first time ever. The report submitted to the Senate notes with concern to the current situation in (IOK) and calls on Indian government to lift the lock down and curfew in occupied territories; restore telecommunication and internet services and release the detainees.   

Saudi Arabia allows foreign couples to share hotel rooms

Saudi Arabia is allowing foreign men and women to rent hotel rooms together without even proving they are related, after the conservative Muslim kingdom launched a new tourist visa regime to entice tourists. Similarly, women including nationals are also permitted to rent hotel rooms by themselves which was against the law previously. These regulations would attract tourism and allow the Saudi government to diversify its economy. 

War against government will only end with its fall: JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam on Saturday analogised the upcoming Azadi March to a “war” which he said will “only end with the fall of the government”. Rehman claimed that the entire country will be a battlefield that will culminate in Islamabad. Later, he added that the party’s strategy won’t remain stagnant and will keep evolving to cope up  with any situation.
