Asim Saleem Bajwa steps down as CPEC authority chief

General (retired) Asim Saleem Bajwa stepped down from his position as chief of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority (CPEC). He also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Imran Khan for his support. Bajwa was appointed chairman of the CPEC Authority in November 2019. Consequently, the Prime Minister announced Khalid Mansoor as the SAPM for CPEC affairs.

Mansoor is fully prepared to drive CPEC forward, Bajwa said. “CPEC is a lifeline for Pakistan; it will transform us into a progressive and fully developed country,”

Shabaz Gill, PM’s aide for Political Communications, shared Mansoor’s appointment on Twitter.
