White House sends Blinken to Middle East amid ‌Gaza‌ ‌ceasefire

The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas appears to have held for a 4th straight day; US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Middle East on Monday to meet Israeli and Palestinian officials as other regional leaders. In response to the conflict between Israel and Hamas, Biden urged his top diplomat to travel to Gaza.

During his trip, Blinken plans to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. Moreover, he also plans to meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, and Jordan’s King Abdullah, according to the State Department. Blinken will also discuss “international efforts to ensure immediate aid reaches Gaza without benefiting Hamas”, as well as limiting the risk of further conflict.
