The US slams Afghan forces for failing to defend the country after Taliban fighters take a sixth provincial capital. The Taliban also captured the border towns and trade routes. Currently, President Joe Biden has announced that the U.S. military mission in Afghanistan will end on August 31. Moreover, he stated that he would not consign another generation of Americans to the 20-year war.

Essentially, he argues that it is up to Afghanistan to decide its own destiny. Moreover, US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad is headed to Qatar to press the Taliban to end their military offensive and to negotiate a political settlement.
