Short film about dedicated Pakistani construction worker wins big in China

 A short film about a Pakistani construction worker at the Dasu Dam in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has won an award at the second Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) Short Video Competition in China. The contest aims to share the stories of builders and communities involved in BRI — Beijing’s multibillion dollar push to develop geopolitical ties through infrastructure and ports. 

UAE suspends issuance of visit visas to Pakistan and 11 other countries

The United Arab Emirates has temporarily suspended issuance of visit visas to Pakistan and eleven other countries, until further notice. The decision is “believed to be related to the second wave of Covid-19”. The suspension will not apply to visas that have already been issued. It was not immediately clear how many categories of visas would be affected by the suspension.

Foreign office rejects reports about US pressure to recognise Israel as ‘fabrication’

The Foreign Office (FO) has rejected as “fabrication” reports quoting Prime Minister Imran Khan as saying Pakistan was facing pressure from the United States to recognise Israel in the wake of peace deals between several Arab states and Tel Aviv. A day earlier, a report quoted the premier as saying that pressure to recognise Israel was “extraordinary during the Trump stint”.

‘Talented husband’ of three wives is looking for a fourth one, and his wives approve

A resident of Sialkot has been labelled ‘talented’ by one of his three wives, as he manages to keep them all happy. 22 year old Adnan, is married to three women and  they all live together in the same house. Even so, the wives are now looking for a fourth bride for their husband. Adnan says he spends around 1.5 lacs each month on his family. 

First Pakistani now holds a Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) racing license

Pakistan-born, Saudi Arabia-based motorcyclist Muhammad Usman Ghani, 27, feels proud to represent his country as the first Pakistani to hold a Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) racing license. Customised in green and white, Ghani’s motorcycle represents colors of the Pakistani flag. Since receiving his FIM license in 2017, Ghani has achieved a number of successes in motorcycling in last three years.

PM Imran Khan says country is facing great pressure from the US to recognise Israel

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the country is facing great pressure from the United States to recognise Israel, especially in the wake of peace deals between several Arab states and Tel Aviv. The PM however, said that this will not be possible “unless there is a just settlement, which satisfies Palestine”. Mr Khan made these remarks “last week” talking to “local media”.

Transgender told to leave district after being declared a ‘threat’ to peace in Kohat

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has ordered the expulsion of a transgender dancer, Chahat, from district Kohat for being a ‘threat to law and order’. The orders were issued after Chahat was termed responsible for death of five persons during a wedding function. Reportedly, two parties wanted Chahat’s attention, but one of the parties became enraged seeing Chahat spend too much time with the other.

With coronavirus cases on rise, NCOC recommends closing down cinemas, shrines

The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has recommended closing down cinemas, theaters and shrines across the country as coronavirus cases continue to rise. The NCOC also suggested early and extended winter vacations in schools and colleges to reduce the disease spread and ensure the safety of students. For restaurants, only take-away and outdoor dining to be allowed till 10 pm.

Kindness that transcends politics: Pakistani man in UAE devoted to care of blind Indian neighbor

In a touching story of kindness that transcends politics, a Pakistani man living in Dubai has been the primary, live-in caregiver to his former neighbor, an Indian who is blind. For a year and a half, the two friends, Tomichan Puthuparambil Thomas, 63, from Kerala and Mohammed Asad, 36, from Azad Jammu and Kashmir, have been sharing a tiny room with a bunk bed.
