The Punjab government recently signed a pact to build small & intermediate dams to improve water supply. In a ceremony, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the provincial irrigation ministry and NESPAK. Consequently, modern drone technology will be used to evaluate the feasibility of building small & intermediate dams. The CM Punjab announced that the reservoir pilot project would begin in June.

Additionally, water reservoirs will provide water for 200,000 acres of land, reducing flood damage. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has completed 25 smaller dams for storage of floodwater during monsoon for irrigation and drinking in July 2019.
