Islamabad and Beijing plan to form a global media platform similar to Al-Jazeera and Russia’s RT, with international journalists and backed by Chinese funding. A plan is under development by China and Pakistan to create a television channel and a media organization with the aim of gaining “information dominance”. Consequently, providing a different perspective from Western media narratives.
This move is based on the thought that China’s internal dynamics do not favor an open media, but the country has financial resources. On the contrary, Pakistan’s internal scenario lends itself to a media organization, but the country lacks financial resources. According to the report, the media organization will be able to “contest rival narratives”.
