According to official announcements, the government is planning to set up an information technology (IT) park at Jinnah International Airport, a trade and business hub in Karachi, at a cost of Rs31 billion. The government seeks to enhance exports by increasing growth in the IT sector. In the government’s view, it does not make sense to rely on traditional exports such as textiles.
In addition to offering financial support, the government of South Korea has also offered technical expertise for the IT park Karachi project. A new IT park will boost the IT sector and provide job opportunities for the people. Around 210 IT companies with 8,400 employees will work in the IT park. The project includes an office building with multiple floors.
