North Korea bans laughing, drinking, and shopping for 11 days

North Korea has prohibited its citizens from laughing or displaying any signs of happiness for 11 days. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Kim Jong-Il’s death, authorities banned relaxed behavior. A ban has been imposed on all leisure activities during the mourning period, including laughing, drinking, and grocery shopping. The restrictions have been around for a long time as well. 

Punjab announces to hold largest football league in Pakistan

Punjab’s Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti has announced to hold Pakistan’s largest football league. Bhatti said that the league will bring out the talent and promote football in Pakistan and will be the largest in the country. Players under the age of 23 from across the province will be able to register from December 15 to 22 for the Football League.

Rizwan becomes first batter in history to score 2000 runs in a year

Rizwan became the first batter ever to score over 2000 runs in T20 cricket in a calendar year. During the third and final T20I, he set a new world record with his 87-run knock. A wicket-keeper batter has had an excellent year in the shortest format of the game so far.

Japan is planning to hire Pakistani IT experts

Japanese human resources officials would soon visit Pakistan in order to hire the services of Pakistani IT experts. The Japanese ambassador met with Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Syed Amin Ul Haque, in Islamabad. During the meeting, the two sides agreed to enhance their cooperation in the IT field between the two countries.

19 Pakistani universities make it to world’s top 500 greenest campuses

The University of Indonesia (UI) has ranked 19 Pakistani universities in the top 500 greenest campuses around the world in its Green Metric World University Ranking. These rankings, developed by the university in 2010, compare and evaluate campus sustainability efforts. 51 Pakistani universities participated in the competition this year along with 912 universities from 84 countries. Out of the top 500 universities, only 19 were Pakistani.

Microsoft, a leading software company, has been encouraging young Pakistani girls to pursue careers in software development. Using Microsoft’s Power platform, students in primary school are now able to design and customize applications according to their needs. Power Platform enables simple business processes to be automated with Power Automate, and Power Apps can be developed easily.

17-year-old ‘Fatima Zehra calligraphed all APS shuhadas names in her calligraphy

The talented young girl Syeda Fatima Zehra, who is 17 years old, recently made calligraphy to commemorate the 16th of December. The list contains all the names of the Shuhadas of Army Public School, Peshawar. Fatima says this calligraphy is a gift from her side to the parents of the martyred children. Also, it is her original work too.

World largest handwritten copy of the holy Quran exhibited in Sahiwal

Punjab Council of the Arts organized a display of the largest handwritten copy of the Holy Quran in Sahiwal. The exhibition of manuscripts of the Holy Quran was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal Wajid Ali Shah. The Quranic manuscript was written by Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah Noorani Mujaddidi. This manuscript is 41 feet long by 8 feet wide.

Pakistani boxer Usman Wazeer wins world boxing council middle east title

The young Pakistani boxer Usman Wazeer defeated his Tanzanian opponent to win the WBC Middle East title in Dubai. Usman is known as ‘The Asian Boy’. He is considered to be the best contemporary Pakistani boxer. Wazeer hails from the Astore district of Pakistan’s northern Gilgit-Baltistan region. The boxer is currently an undefeated welterweight and holds the ABF Asian title.

Pakistani boxer Asif Hazara wins Asian boxing federation title

Asif Hazara, a rising boxing star from Pakistan, clinched the Asian Boxing Federation title after defeating his opponent. The Asian Boxing Federation champion beat his opponent in the UAE. He is a former captain of the Pakistan Boxing Federation. The young Pakistani boxer Asif Hazara outclassed his Ugandan fighter Ben Nsubuga.
