His father sells newspapers in Empress market and barely manages to afford the expenses for educationg his son. He always wanted Anas to become a doctor but didn’t want to go against his son’s will.

Hayyab Arif, a pakistani businessman and an “ideological worker” of the political party MQM, faked his death on July 19th 2017 in a tragic car accident in UAE. He has now launched his company, H&MZ Global Worldwide – a foodstuff trading company. He scams different overseas companies by tricking them to ship tonnes of fruits, vegetables and grains worth millions of dirhams in UAE.

Maryam falls ill after seeing her father: sent back to jail despite illness

Maryam Nawaz also fell sick after meeting Nawaz Shareef who’s health condition worsened on Wednesday. Maryam was admitted to the hsopital later that day and was allowed to stay in a room next to the one where her father has been undergoing treatment. Few hours later, she was sent back to Kot Lakpat jail i.e. on Thursday morning without letting her complete the treatment. 

Indian startups have raised a record $11.3B this year

Indian technology startups are having the best year so far as they set a record of raising  $11.3 billion after the downfall in 2016 when the startups only accumulated $4.3 billion i.e. $3.6 billion less from the year before. According to the research firm Tracxn, startups with consumer-facing offerings including financial services have attracted most of the venture capital this year with $8.2 billion, followed by retail startups and enterprise service providers. 

Pakistan’s first female Google Developer Expert in machine learning

Aqsa Kausar, an engineering graduate from the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) became the first Google Developer Expert (GDE) in machine learning i.e.the application of Artificial Intelligence. Organising different workshops in various events was one of her contributions in the field including Google’s Machine Learning Train-the-Trainer session recently held in Singapore. Aqsa is currently working with a Software firm Red Buffer which she believes had an immense role in her journey to become a GDE. 

App to call Rescue 1122 fire brigade and ambulance in KPK

The online ride-hailing company, Careem is offering the service of Rescue 1122 frire brigade and ambulance on a trail basis in Peshawar. These services can be availed from Careem application by only 50,000 people in selected areas in the city for now but will later be extended to other regions. This facility can be used for handling different emergencies such as road accidents, medical emergency, fire, natural calamities etc

Xiaomi patents under-display front dual cameras

Xiaomi, via twitter, announced in June that the company has found a solution to make the front cameras disappear to finally get rid of notches. Similarly on the same day Oppo also announced the same technology on twitter. Xiaomi’s recent patent regarding the new technology was filed and granted by the CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) which also surfaced the internet. 

Suicide live streamed on Facebook

A depressed man, Munir Kalwar from Ghotki, Sindh committed suicide while live streaming it on Facebook on Monday. He shared that failed relationship was the reason behind this act and asked for forgiveness from his family and friends. Munir streamed for 6 minutes during which he shot himself in the head. Following the incident, Police took the body to Mirpur Mathelo District Headquarters Hospital.

TikTok’s owner had $7 billion in revenue for the first half of the year

China’s ByteDance, owner of video-sharing app TikTok, booked revenue of $7 billion to $8.4 billion in a better than expected result for the first half of the year. The owner  also posted a profit in June and was confident of making a similar or better profit in the second half of the year. Tiktok’s robust  growth has led to revise its revenue target for 2019 from 100 billion yuan to 120 billion yuan.

World’s biggest face recognition system to be built in India

India is building the world’s biggest face recognition system, according to an official announcement made to the international media. The automate facial recognition aims to identify suspects immediately across the country. The system would work by matching images from the CCTV network across the country against the database maintained of mug-shots of criminals, passport photos and images collected by various government agencies.
