Israeli forces block visitors and supporters of Palestinians to Sheikh Jarrah

Authorities in Israel have recently placed Palestinian residents of Sheikh Jarrah, occupied East Jerusalem neighborhood, ‘under a siege’. Non-residents have been banned from entering the neighborhood for the past few weeks. Moreover, the Palestinians tend to stay at home since Israeli authorities allegedly prevent them from returning if they leave the area. Most Palestinians are losing their land to Israeli settlers.

Nonetheless, Israeli settlers have taken over Palestinian houses, and some of the settlers now share Palestinian housing in Sheikh Jarrah. In addition, the Police always provide adequate protection to the Israeli settlers. For Arabs, it is illegal to visit anyone who does not reside here, but Israeli settlers are exempt. Locals referred to this as ‘apartheid’ since it is easy for Jews to enter the area.

The Kuwaiti government made the announcement following a directive by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf al Ahmad al Sabah.
