Muhammad Ali, Rawalpindi’s Deputy Commissioner (DC), has ordered that the tourist city of Murree be made a no-smoking zone. The announcement was made during the district’s Tobacco Control Implementation Committee meeting. He is insisting on immediate action to make Murree a no-smoking zone. It will also set an example for a smoke-free Pakistan since the tourist destination receives visitors from across the country.
He added that all other tehsils in Rawalpindi will follow the example, making Rawalpindi the first district in Pakistan to be smoke-free. Rawalpindi has been ordered to install ‘No Smoking’ signs outside all schools and colleges.
