Ian Watmore, chairman of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), has resigned from his position after serving ten months of a five-year term. He has been under increasing pressure since he canceled the England team’s tour to Pakistan days after the New Zealand team canceled its tour due to unexplained security concerns.
Britain’s Prime Minister and other government officials have all confirmed the cricket board failed to consult the government before making its decision. Ian Watmore apologized for pulling out of two Twenty20 matches scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi.
