Daughter of truck driver from Chakwal scores highest marks in 173 years

Noshaba Zafar, the daughter of a truck driver, has scored the highest marks in Punjab University’s history of 173 years. Noshaba, who hails from district Chakwal’s tehsil Talagang, is a BSc student from VIP Girls Degree College – an affiliate of Punjab University and has become the first student ever to score 714 marks out of 800 in BA/BSc Examination.

K-P hospitals to set up separate wards for transgender community

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to set up separate wards for transgender persons in all public hospitals in a bid to avoid discrimination and ease medical facilitation for the marginalised community. The K-P CM called for immediate medical services to the transgender community in all government hospitals and other healthcare institutions in the province.

PTI removes Iftikhar Loond as human rights focal person in Sindh

After reinvestigation, Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari announced the removal of Iftikhar Loond as focal person of human rights in Sindh. In a Tweet, Mazari said that ‘new evidence’ have been found and regretted the decision she had made earlier. Loond, who was appointed few weeks ago, has been accused of grievously assaulting one of his employees in Ghotki.

10 Pakistan Army soldiers martyred in multiple terrorist attacks

A total of 10 Pakistan Army’s valued soldiers embraced martyrdom, in two separate attacks on Saturday. The attacks were carried out by terrorits in Baluchistan and North Waziristan. According to the ISPR, the first incident took place when the soldiers were on regular duty patrolling of the border near Gurbaz area of North Waziristan near the Pak-Afghan border.

Heavy rain causes damage to historical Lahore Fort

Continuous downpour in Lahore has adversely affected the historical Shahi Qila. As a result of accumulation of rainwater, the entrance and small gate of the Lahore fort has collapsed. The historical Shahi Qila has been listed among the world heritage sites by UNESCO since 1981. However, the much known piece of architecture from Mughal era has been ignored by the local authorities. 

Man accused of torturing servant appointed as focal person for human rights

PTI’s local leader from Ghotki, Mir Iftikhar Ahmed Lund, has been appointed as the focal person for Human Rights in Sindh. In April, Iftikhar was booked for brutally torturing his driver, Allah Rakhio, with a steel rod after the drivers disagreement with Iftikhar’s cousins. Rakhio received eight stitches after a metal rod was forcefully inserted in his rectum.

Khadija Siddiqi, stabbed 23 times, becomes a Barrister

Khadija Siddiqi, who was stabbed 23 times in broad daylight in Lahore, has completed her bar degree from City Law School. Khadija Siddiqi has now officially become a barrister after passing 12 examinations. She graduates with an overall “very competent” grade. Her graduation ceremony for a “call to the bar” will be held at the Lincoln’s Inn in October.

Woman falls asleep on flight and ‘wakes up in a dark, locked and empty plane’

A woman has claimed she was left alone in a dark and locked plane after falling asleep on a flight. Tiffani Adams took a 90-minute Air Canada flight from Quebec to Toronto on 9 June. Ms Adams fell asleep during the journey but woke up to find the aircraft empty, cleared and parked for the night in Toronto.

Pakistani officials to get visa on arrival for Malaysia

High Commissioner of Malaysia, Ikram Muhammad Ibrahim, has said Malaysia and Pakistan have reached an understanding to issue visas on arrival to officials of both the countries. The purpose of this is to further boost bilateral relations and promote and intensify exchange of official delegations. From April 15, 2019, both countries have started visa-on-arrival for their respective diplomatic and official passport holders.

Eid-ul-Fitr moon sighted: Mufti Popalzai

Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai has announced at Masjid Qasim Ali Khan that the moon of Shawwal has been sighted in Peshawar and Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 4, 2019. The Federal Government has already announced that Met office predicted that the moon will be sighted in the country on Tuesday, June 4 and Eid will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
