CJP stops import of luxury vehicles worth Rs. 4 billion in Sindh

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, has taken notice of luxury vehicles being imported by the Sindh government. During the hearing of coronavirus sou motu case, Justice Gulzar said that the Sindh government does not have funds for cleaning drains of Karachi. However, they are buying luxury vehicles worth Rs. 4 billion. The cost of each vehicle is Rs. 11.6 million. 

Emirates makes mandatory for Pakistani travelers to produce a negative PCR test

The Emirates airline has announced that it will be resuming flight operations in Pakistan, however, travelers will be required to produce a negative PCR test. The flight operations from Pakistan and seven other countries will be resumed from June 30th. The airline recently suspended its services after 26 people from a flight from Pakistan tested positive in Hong Kong.

Government bars 262 pilots from three airlines from flying

Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar has announced that 262 pilots would be barred from flying because of ‘dubious’ credentials. The pilots in the line of fire include 141 from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), 10 from Serene Airline and nine from Air Blue. Others belong to flying clubs or chartered plane services. In total, there are 860 pilots in the country, 753 pilots serving locally and 107 in foreign ones.

Footage of Prime Minister Imran Khan calling slain al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden a martyr has gone viral, especially in India where their official propaganda machine has gone into an overdrive to malign Pakistan. However, the premier merely misspoke as has been clarified by his spokesperson. Special assistant to PM, Dr Shahbaz Gill denounced an “unwarranted attempt” to create a controversy.

International body expresses concern over ‘serious lapse’ by PIA and CAA

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) on Thursday expressed concern over the ‘serious lapse in the licensing and safety oversight by the aviation regulator’ in Pakistan. The international body’s comments came after the federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan in the National Assembly declared that 150 pilots of the national flag carrier had fake licences.

Government Hajj scheme applicants to get a full refund

The Religious Affairs Ministry of Pakistan has decided to return the money of this year’s successful applicants of government’s Hajj scheme. Imran Siddiqui, the ministry’s spokesperson said that an emergency meeting was convened to discuss the mechanism after Saudi Arabia’s plans to host the pilgrimage in closed borders. Only 1000 pilgrims residing in the Kingdom will be allowed to perform Hajj this year.

Pilots of PK-8303 were ‘over confident’: Aviation Minister

Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan presented the preliminary report on the PIA plane crash before the National Assembly on Wednesday, where he accused the pilots of being ‘over confident’.

Based on the initial report, Khan held the pilot, the cabin crew, and the Air Traffic Control (ATC) responsible for the plane crash, which resulted in the deaths of 97 out of 99 persons on board the flight.

“The pilot and the ATC did not follow the procedure. The plane was 100 per cent okay,” said the minister, eliminating the possibility of technical faults with the aircraft.
Khan added that the pilots were not “focused” because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“In the last half hour, the pilots’ discussion was about coronavirus, they were not focused as their families were affected,” said the minister, adding that the pilot and co-pilot were both fit and experienced.

Writing ‘Khatam ul Nabiyeen’ with Prophet’s name made binding

The National Assembly has passed a resolution making it mandatory to write Khatam ul Nabiyeen (the Last Prophet) along with Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)’s name. The resolution was passed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) minister Muhammad Ali Khan. Police in Karachi arrests nine-year-old car ‘thief’

The Karachi police has arrested a nine-year-old suspected car thief after several days of efforts. A nine-year-old child stole a car from Karachi’s Khayaban-e-Mujahid out of desperation to drive a car. Upon being informed, the Darakhshan police chased him and arrested from Sea View area. The car thief has been identified as Bilal and hailed from Machar colony, said police.

Founder of Huda beauty receives mango crates from Zardari

Mona Kattan, co-founder of cosmetic brand Huda Beauty took to Instagram excitedly as she shared a video of the mango crates, delivered from Pakistan. The mangoes were sent to her by Asif Ali Zardari and family especially from their farms in Tando Allahayar. Mona thanked Zardari and children for sending love-filled mangoes and expressed how happy she is.
