Pakistan set to get its first ever space museum in Islamabad

The Scientific Committee of the National Astronomical Observation Commission has decided to set up the country’s first ever space museum in Islamabad. Federal minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Hussain Chaudhary announced that space museum will be established within eight months. “From looking at the moon to beyond the stars, you will be able to explore the universe in future”, he said.

EU recommends 32 member states to suspend Pakistani pilots holding fake licences

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has recommended its 32 member countries not to schedule Pakistani pilots with fraud licenses for flight operations. In a letter, EASA recommended aviation authorities to consider suspension of validations issued against Pakistani licences. It said that “approximately 40% of airline pilot licences issued by Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) are either falsified or not ICAO compliant.”

PIA flight attendant disappears in Canada post-Toronto-flight

A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight attendant has disappeared mysteriously after a flight carrying passengers landed in Canada’s Toronto city. According to details, PIA flight attendant, identified as Yasir, went missing from his hotel, after arriving in Toronto on a PIA flight PK-781 from Islamabad. Rains in Karachi are no less than a menace for residents. Every year monsoon rains leave the city in darkness, with constant power outages, water clogged roads, collapsing buildings and several deaths. At least nine people were killed and several others injured due to rain in the metropolis on Monday. Building came crashing down and sewerage water overflowed in streets of Karachi DHA.

Man in Islamabad recites Azaan at land designated for Hindu temple

Days after the government stopped construction of the first Hindu temple in Islamabad, a man is seen in a viral video reciting Azan at the site. In the video, a man can be seen standing on the foundation of the temple as another person accompanying him watches on. Remdesivir, anti-COVID drug to be available in the country within three weeks

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (Drap) said on Monday that Remdesivir, an effective anti-COVID 19 drug, will be available in the country within three weeks. Drap, after registration of the medicine, had allowed two pharmaceutical companies to import this critical drug. The regulator has given licences to 14 manufacturers for producing the medicine at home.

First batch of locally manufactured ventilators handed over to NDMA

Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said on Monday the first batch of locally manufactured ventilators has been handed over to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). Pakistan in now among those few countries which are producing their own ventilators. The price of domestic ventilators as well as protective gear and testing kits is far less than the imported ones

First Pakistani female lawyer earns SJD, the most advanced degree in law

Dr Nudrat E. Piracha has become the first female lawyer from Pakistan to earn a Doctorate of Juridical Science. Abbreviated as SJD and equivalent to a research doctorate, the qualification is the most advanced degree in law. Dr Piracha is one of few women globally to have earned the qualification, which is awarded primarily to candidates with exceptional academic and professional credentials.
