Malaysia reinstates Pakistani pilots suspended last month after verifying licences

Malaysia has verified licenses of 18 Pakistani pilots currently employed in the country and it has reinstated them with immediate effect. The pilots were suspended earlier this month after authorities in Pakistan discovered that up to a third of the country’s pilots may have falsified their qualifications. Last week, the Vietnamese government also verified licences of all Pakistani pilots.

Actors, politicians alike denounce the idea of another YouTube ban

Pakistani actors and politicians have shunned the idea of another possible  YouTube ban in the country after Supreme Court hinted it might take action against social media sites. Actors Mehwish Hayat, Zara Noor Abbas and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Digital Pakistan, Tania Aidrus,  and Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter to oppose the ban.

Pakistan ranked ‘most improved country’ in new Nuclear Security Index

The United States-based Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) has ranked Pakistan as the “most improved among countries with materials” in its Nuclear Security Index 2020 report. Pakistan had improved its overall score, by adopting “new on-site physical protection and cybersecurity regulations, improving insider threat protection measures, and more.” Pakistan’s score improvement for regulatory measures is the second largest improvement for regulations in the Index since 2012. 

Social media shames man who brutally beat his mother over property dispute

Outraged social media users name and shame, Arslan Qureshi, the man who can be seen brutally beating his mother in a disturbing viral video. In the video, shared by Zobia Meer on Facebook, Arslan can be seen hurling abuses and beating his mother, while his wife encourages the act. Zobia, the victim’s daughter claims her brother beat his mother over cash and property dispute.

‘We can make the govt fall’, Private schools’ association threatens govt for opposing the decision to open schools

The All Pakistan Private Schools’ Association has threatened the government for opposing its decision to open schools from August 15, stating if they started a campaign the “government would fall”. “If the government tries to interfere in our matters, we will do a million march,” the association’s head warned at a press conference in Islamabad.

$25,000 approved for renovation of one bathroom by Foreign Ministry

Foreign Ministry has sanctioned $25,000 for the repair and renovation of just one bathroom of the official residence in New York of the country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. According to a source this latest sanction of $25000 is just one extra spending on a bathroom, which is already in good condition. Around $50,000 has already been spent from Mission’s account.

Indian man tries to cross border to meet girlfriend in Pakistan, gets caught by BSF

BSF troops caught a 20-year-old man last week from near the international border in Gujarat’s Kutch, who was trying to cross the border to meet his girlfriend in Pakistan. According to the troops, the man was trying to cross the border through Rann of Kutch area to meet a girl from Karachi, with whom he was in contact through Facebook and Whatsapp. 

Teacher helps students in tribal areas despite losing both legs in blast in 1999

Lost both his legs and an arm in a bomb blast in 1999 but not his hopes. Gulzar Hussain, a 28-year-old, differently-abled trained educationist teaches at school in Parachinar, helps children in tribal areas. Hussain received his early education by going to his school on a donkey’s back, and eventually got a master’s degree in Islamic Studies, and a Primary Teachers Certificate (PTC).

200 million saplings to be planted across country in PM’s monsoon drive

The country’s largest ongoing monsoon tree plantation season 2020 is expected to meet a target of planting around 200 million saplings across the country. The monsoon tree plantation season that will continue for three months and end on September 30. Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the ‘Monsoon Tree Plantation and Protection Campaign 2020’ by planting a sapling in Kahuta on July 17. 

15 more pilots suspended for having dubious licences taking the total to 93

The Aviation Division, on Friday, suspended 15 more pilots raising the number of suspended pilots to 93. The 15 are among the 262 pilots possessing suspicious licences. The licences of 28 others have already been cancelled. The suspended pilots will not be able to undertake any flying duty and their licences have been cancelled after proper legal procedures.
