DSP, SHO, & other senior officers suspended for negligence in TikToker assault case

The Punjab government has removed several senior officers following the horrific assault on the TikToker in Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park. DIG Operations Sajid Kayani, SSP Operations Syed Nadeem Abbas, and Additional SP Operations Hassan Jahangir were removed from their posts. Meanwhile, DSP Badami Bagh Usman Haider and SHO Lorry Adda Mohammad Jamil were suspended.

Magisterial Court grants bail to accused in Ranjit Singh statue defacement case

The individual who is alleged to have vandalized the statue of Sikh ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh at the Lahore Fort was granted pre-arrest bail on Friday.  The accused’s counsel told the court that police recovered a hammer from the accused.  According to him, the FIR was registered under sections that allow for bail. 

CPO Lahore reveals multiple arrests of people spotted during Minar-e-Pakistan incident

The CCPO Lahore announced that 35 people have been arrested for their role in the attack and harassment of a woman in Greater Iqbal Park. The CCPO has also received information regarding other people involved in the incident. More arrests will be made as soon as fresh evidence has been obtained.

Karachi man infected by deadly Naegleria Fowleri via tap water

A 38-year-old man with a Naegleria Fowleri infection was admitted to the intensive care unit at Ziauddin Hospital in Karachi on Tuesday. There have been seven reports of Naegleria infections in the city this year. The report prepared by the Regional Disease Surveillance and Response Unit stated piped water as the main risk factor. Moreover, Naegleria Fowleri is commonly known as the “brain-eating amoeba.”

Taliban support women’s rights, free media under Islamic law

The Taliban’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that the group wished for peace with all other countries. They also pledged to respect women’s rights within the framework of Islamic law. The Taliban held their first official news conference since capturing Kabul in record time. Moreover, the Taliban’s announcements were sparse but suggest a softer approach than under their rule 20 years ago.

Usman Mirza’s accomplice gets bail in couple assault case

Usman Mirza’s accomplice Umer Bilal Marawat has been granted bail by the Islamabad High Court. Umer was accused of sexually harassing, torturing, and filming a young couple in Islamabad. A 16-page decision was issued by Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri during his hearing on Tuesday. He has been ordered to submit two surety bonds worth one million rupees each.

Pakistan Processes first fresh mango consignment for export to Russia

The Pakistan Customs and FBR have processed the first consignment of fresh mangos, White Chaunsa, for export to Russia under the TIR Convention. This was one of the first efforts to introduce fresh fruits and indigenous goods from Pakistan to Russia. Pakistani traders will be able to access markets in Europe and Russia by land route.

Pakistan launches first electric Taxi for northern areas

The SAPM on Climate Change of Pakistan, Malik Amin Aslam, officially launched Pakistan’s first Electric Taxi. The initiative will help cement PM Imran Khan’s vision for a Clean Green Pakistan. Amin Aslam says these e-taxis will save drivers Rs. 12,000 in budget costs. However, the government stands to save more than 2 billion from oil imports.

Taliban drastically reduce border taxes on petroleum and sugar

Torkham border crossing has been reopened by the Taliban after it had been shut following the fall of Kabul on Sunday. In addition, the Taliban have drastically reduced border taxes on several items, including sugar and petrol. A chaotic situation in Afghanistan stranded hundreds of trucks and halted cross-border trade. The country’s new rulers also formally opened its border crossing on Tuesday.

Facebook confirms its policy to ban pro-Taliban content from its platforms

The social networking platform, Facebook, reportedly banned ‘Taliban-related content’ across all of its platforms and apps. Additionally, Facebook has assigned a team of Afghan experts to monitor and remove content associated with the group. We have banned the Taliban from Facebook services under our Dangerous Organization policy, according to a Facebook employee.
