It appears that Pakistan’s gaming industry is slowly making inroads. Pakistan is now ranked 29th out of 150 countries based on E-sports earnings. Pakistan has a total of 278 professional local players that earn an annual income of Rs. 845 million. The professional Dota 2 player Sumail Hassan is currently the highest-earning Pakistani gamer.

Under-trial prisoners escape from Lahore court lock-up; 2 accused of murder

Two groups of under-trial prisoners clashed while they were being presented before a Lahore court on Monday leading to the escape of at least 12 prisoners. Authorities said they had been able to re-arrest two of the fleeing prisoners. Additional steps are being taken to apprehend the others. It occurred in Model Town, Lahore when 166 prisoners were brought to district courts for hearings.

Govt to Launch Pakistan’s Biggest Talent Hunt Program for Sports

To revive the sports culture in Pakistan, Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the launch of Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive, the country’s largest talent hunt program. Reports indicate that the premier will officially inaugurate the Kamyan Jawan Sports Drive on 6 December at Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad. The talent hunt will be launched in 25 regions for 12 sports ​in the first phase.

Punjab Police Arrest ‘Prime Suspects’ in Sialkot Lynching

Punjab IG Rao Sardar Ali Khan announced Saturday that 118 men were arrested for the murder and burning of a Sri Lankan national. The arrest list included 13 prime suspects in the Sialkot lynching. IG Punjab and government spokesperson briefed the media in Lahore on the investigation into the Sialkot incident. In the last 24 hours, police conducted raids in over 200 areas of the city.

Punjab govt announces motorbike subsidy scheme for female workers

The Chief Minister’s Strategic Reforms unit recently introduced Phase II of its “Women on Wheels, Motorbike Subsidy Scheme” project. The company plans to give away 3,000 motorcycles at a subsidized rate to women. The campaign was launched in partnership with both the Transport Department and the Bank of Punjab, according to a press release. Motorcycles will be awarded through a merit-based balloting process.

The United States is the world’s biggest generator of plastic waste. The country urgently needs a strategy for curbing the vast amounts of plastic that end up in the oceans. The amount of plastic waste discarded worldwide each year is estimated at 242 million megatons. This is approximately the same amount as ten billion statues of liberty.
