2 men arrested for shooting teenage boy for resisting rape attempt

Police have arrested two suspects for allegedly shooting a teenage boy after the boy had resisted rape attempt in Muzaffargarh. The third suspect, however, still remains at large. A complaint was registered at a police station in the city, where it was alleged by the father of the boy that three men attempted to rape his son and then shot him in the hip for resisting.

US blogger Cynthia Ritchie not granted visa extension, told to leave country in 15 days

The development comes a day after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) expressed dissatisfaction over the interior ministry’s recent order related to the validity of Ritchie’s visa and gave the government a final opportunity to render proper assistance.

PTA blocks five dating apps, including Tinder citing “immoral content”

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked five dating and live streaming applications including the popular Tinder app citing “immoral content”. The four other apps blocked by the authority are Tagged, Skout, Grindr and SayHi. The PTA had issued notices to the five platforms’ managements asking them to remove “dating services”, but blocked after the platforms did not respond.

Pakistan would be in dire situation, if measures not taken to eradicate Polio in next six months: IMB

If Pakistan does not make fruitful changes to eradicate Poliovirus in next six months, the situation would become dire, notes the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB). Citing modelling data, the report notes that Pakistan is at the risk of wild poliovirus cases reaching 500 by end of 2020 and vaccine-derived poliovirus cases reaching 1,000.

Umrah flights to resume once situation improves, Saudi envoy tells Pakistani minister

Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki called on Pakistani Interior Minister Ijaz Ahmad Shah at the Ministry of Interior and said flights for the Umrah pilgrimage would resume as soon as the coronavirus situation improved, the interior ministry said. Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have fraternal relations not only at the governmental level but also at the public level, Shah was quoted as saying.

Karachi’s DHA & Clifton residents protest against lack of help from authorities

Frustrated by the lack of action by departments concerned, residents of DHA and Clifton, Karachi gathered outside the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) office to protest against the post-rain situation in the two localities.
