Pakistan and Germany have signed a financing agreement for Hydro power and Renewable Energy Phase-II worth Rs. 2,145.29 million. Under the agreement, German Development Bank will provide grant assistance worth 12.5 million Euros to the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan and Agha Khan Rural Support programme. The project has two components i.e the hydro power component and, the biodiversity component.
Irfan Mehsood, a martial arts athlete from Waziristan, Pakistan has made it to the Guinness Book of World Records after completing 48 one-leg elevated push ups in one minute while carrying a 60-pound backpack. He also broke the previous world record held by an Indian athlete with 34 reps in one minute. Guinness World Records has confirmed his entry via email. Its official website has also registered Irfan’s name as a new record holder.
Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi has warned of strict action against the import of Indian-origin products in the country using regional ports. He said that the tax authority is noticing import circumvention with respect to goods of Indian origin. As per the World Trade Organization (WTO), rules of origin are the criteria needed to determine the national source of a product.
The popular messaging app, Whatsapp will stop working for many smartphones around the globe from 2020. It will stop operating on Windows smartphones by the end of this month as well as on Android and iPhone devices in the coming months. Android version 2.3.4 and older users will be unable to continue using using the app whereas iPhone users with iOS 8 will be unable to create new accounts or verify the existing one.

Google, the search engine giant has asked people with Down syndrome (DS) to submit voice recordings in its latest attempt to increase accessibility. This is in order to train its voice-recognition AI to understand unique speech patterns of the DS patients as it can be slightly inconvenient for them to use. In order to remedy that, Google has partnered with the Canadian Down Syndrome Society so that it can acquire voice recordings from hundreds of people.
