54-year-old professor from Bhakkar wins bronze in 2022 Veterans World Wrestling Championship

54-year-old professor, Muhammad Akram Khan Niazi, from Bhakkar has won bronze medal in 2022 Veterans World Wrestling Championships. The championship was held in Bulgaria where Akram Khan Niazi won bronze in Freestyle 130 kg category. He has now expressed hope to win Gold for Pakistan in Jordan next year. Niazi won the bronze by claiming 3 wins and 6 losses in the championship.

He defeated MYRZA Kuanysh from Kazakhstan to claim the bronze.

A professor of sports sciences/ physical education at Govt. college Bhakkar,Akram Khan Niazi had quit wrestling 19 years ago because he wanted to focus on his family and son. But 4 years ago, he got in touch with an American organization through the internet for freestyle wrestling. This is how he got to know of veteran wrestling and in 2019 he planned to participate in Veteran wrestling championship in Georgia.

In December 2019, he had won Gold in Hammer Throw in Malaysia with a high fever. Khan Niazi feels exercising and working hard make him feel active and fresh. Khan Niazi says if he can achieve this feat at the age of 54, why can youngsters not do it.
