Women’s camel beauty contest makes debut in Saudi Arabia

Saudi women paraded their camels at a beauty pageant-themed “ships of the desert,” marking the first Women’s camel beauty contest. Previously, the event was exclusive to men and was part of the prestigious King Abdelaziz Festival. Rashidi, whose family owns 40 camels, has always been fascinated with camels since she was a child.

There were 40 participants in the women’s event, and the top five won a combined total of 1 million riyals (about $260,000). Camels are judged based on a number of criteria, including the shape and size of their lips, neck, and hump.
