Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif calls urgent meeting with leading economists

Newly appointed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called an urgent meeting on Tuesday with leading economists, to discuss in detail the current dire economic situation facing the country. PM Sharif reached the office at 8am, ahead of official office hours, and announced a change in the working hours of government offices. The offices are now to start their day at 8am instead of 10am.

Nawaz Sharif had always treated COAS with respect: Shehbaz Sharif

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has revealed that Nawaz Sharif had always treated Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa with respect. Sharif said that the Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa had told the political leadership of the country that former prime minister never refused any funds or help needed by Pakistan Army.

Top PML-N leaders, including Shehbaz Sharif, test positive for COVID-19

A day after PML-N Secretary-General, Ahsan Iqbal tested positive for COVID-19, Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has also tested positive for the virus. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president has quarantined himself at his residence in Model Town, Lahore. A PML-N leader claimed that Shehbaz had not met anyone except for his appearance before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on June 9.

Day after skipping NAB hearing, Shehbaz Sharif granted pre-arrest bail by LHC

Shehbaz Sharif, leader of the opposition in National Assembly, has been granted pre-arrest bail till June 17 by a Lahore High Court division bench. A day ago a team of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) raided Sharif’s Model Town residence to arrest him in cases related to money laundering and assets beyond known sources of income, after he refused to appear before NAB the third time.

NAB summons Shehbaz Sharif for third time in money laundering case

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif for the third time in a money laundering case. According to a notification by the corruption watchdog, the PML-N leader has been directed to appear before it with documents detailing the properties inherited by him. Officials had said that NAB had received the response submitted by the PML-N president.

LHC rejects NAB plea against granting permanent exemption to Shehbaz Sharif

Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) petition regarding giving exemption to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif from appearing in the hearings.
NAB prosecutor told that accountability court had granted permanent exemption to Shehbaz Sharif on January 17 in Ashiana Iqbal and Ramzan Sugar Mills references. He further requested the that the court should annul this decision and nd direct PML-N president to rejoin the trial. 

NAB moves to freeze Shehbaz’s immovable assets in Pakistan

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore issued orders to freeze immovable properties in Pakistan belonging to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif and his sons – Hamza and Suleman. The reason behind was an investigation pertaining to accumulating assets beyond means of income and money laundering. The order cites an investigation against accused Shehbaz Sharif, his sons and others for offence(s) of corruption and corrupt practices. 

Shehbaz sends defamation notice to Daily Mail

PML-N President, Shehbaz Sharif, has filed a defamation against The Mail on Sunday, a British tabloid and sister paper of the Daily Mail, for accusing him of misappropriating UK aid funds. The article published earlier this month had accused Sharif and his family of misappropriating UK government funds meant for flood and earthquake survivours during his tenure as Punjab chief minister.

NAB to seize assets of PML-N leader Shehbaz Sharif

Accountability watchdog, NAB has decided to initiate massive action against the Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif after a British newspaper accused Shehbaz of embezzling millions of pounds of aid for earthquake victims. The assets he accumulated through unfair means will be seized, which include bungalows situated in 96 Model Town Lahore, Dinga Gali, a residential house in KP and luxury vehicles.
