‘Pakistan Army has nothing to do with politics’: DG ISPR

As controversy regarding military’s role in Pakistan increases, DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor has said that “marches and dharnas are a political activity and the Pakistan Army, as a state institution, has nothing to do with politics”. In a television interview, he said that Pakistan Army had supported the then democratic government during the dharna staged by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in 2014.

Pakistan Army to generate electricity for its establishments

Pakistan Army is all set to generate electricity for its garrisons and establishments across the country to cut their expenditure on power which is estimated to be around Rs 15 billion for 240 MW. As electricity payments act as a huge burden on Army’s budget, Pakistan Army is planning on harnessing renewable energy through solar park and aims to establish 1-5MW solar parks in each garrison, the pilot project will generate 40MW energy.

Foreign diplomats visit ‘terror launch pads’ in AJK to debunk claims of Indian Army

A team of foreign diplomats posted in Pakistan were taken to Neelum Valley in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to witness firsthand whether the Indian army had “smashed four terror launch pads” there early Sunday, Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said in a tweet. The diplomats have been taken to the Nauseri, Shahkot and Jura sectors near Line of Control (LoC).

3 army majors found guilty of abuse of power, involvement in illegal activities

Three majors of Pakistan Army have been found guilty of indiscipline and misconduct charges, including abuse of authority and involvement in illegal activities. All three officers have have been dismissed from service, while two have been awarded rigorous imprisonment for two years each. The exact nature of charges have not been specified and it remains unclear what the three officers were found guilty of.

Pakistan successfully conducts launch of Ghaznavi ballistic missile

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has revealed in statement that Pakistan successfully conducted a night training launch of surface to surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi. The newly launched missile is “capable of delivering multiple types of warheads” a distance of up to 290 km (180 miles). The training launch comes amid increasing tensions with India after New Delhi revoked occupied Kashmir’s special status illegally.

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa gets three-year extension

COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa has been given an extension in term for three years. PM Imran Khan approved an extension in the term of the Army Chief. The decision has been taken in view of the the situation along the eastern border particularly Afghanistan and Kashmir, while nuclear threats from India are another reason for the decision.

Fourth Pakistani soldier martyred in Indian firing across LoC

Another Pakistani soldier martyred as India continues unprovoked shelling across the Line of Control (LoC), increasing the toll to four in last 24 hours. “Another brave son of soil laid his life in the line of duty,” said Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor in a tweet Friday morning.
