World’s biggest face recognition system to be built in India

India is building the world’s biggest face recognition system, according to an official announcement made to the international media. The automate facial recognition aims to identify suspects immediately across the country. The system would work by matching images from the CCTV network across the country against the database maintained of mug-shots of criminals, passport photos and images collected by various government agencies. 

Indian students forced to wear cartons on their heads

Students were made to wear cartons on their heads during exam to stop them from cheating at a private college in India’s Karnataka. After receiving various negative responses to the act, the college’s head justified it by referring to a similar act in a college in BIhar which was widely appreciated on social media and added, this was for the betterment of the students so that their minds don’t get diverted. 

Pakistan will consider India’s attempt to divert water flow an act of aggression: FO

Foreign Office(FO) spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said that Pakistan had “exclusive rights” over three Western rivers. According to Times of India  Modi said that his government would stop the water flowing to Pakistan as it belongs to their country. Dr Faisal put light on the current situation of Kashmir and some more statements coming from Indian leadership would be and example of India’s aggression and irresponsibility.

Modi threatens to stop water flow to Pakistan

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has threatened that his government will stop water flowing to Pakistan and divert it to Haryana state. Addressing an election rally in Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, Modi said, “For 70 years, the water which belongs to India and the farmers of Haryana flowed to Pakistan. I will stop this water and bring it to your houses.”

India receives first Rafale fighter jet from France

France has delivered to India its first Rafale fighter jet from a series of 36 aircraft purchased in a multi-billion dollar deal in 2016. Defence Minister Florence Parly and her Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh, who is on a three-day visit to France, attended a ceremony at aircraft maker Dassault Aviation facility in Merignac, southwestern France. The $8.78 billion deal sparked controversy in India last year.

US senators urge India to end occupied Kashmir ‘humanitarian crisis’

American lawmakers took legislative measures against India, expressing solicitude over the humanitarian crisis in Indian-Occupied Kashmir (IOK), for the first time ever. The report submitted to the Senate notes with concern to the current situation in (IOK) and calls on Indian government to lift the lock down and curfew in occupied territories; restore telecommunication and internet services and release the detainees.

US President Donald Trump told a news conference after attending the United Nations General Assembly, that he has encouraged Pakistan and India to ‘work it out’. “I said, ‘Fellas, work it out. Just work it out’,” he said. Trump encouraged the neighbouring nuclear states to work out their differences in separate meetings with their prime ministers this week.

Restaurant in India mocks Kashmiris with ‘Article 370 platter’

A restaurant in India is offering a discount on a platter if the customer is from the disputed valley. The New Delhi restaurant is offering INR 370 discount on ‘Article 370 platter’ if a customer has a government ID from Jammu and Kashmir. The restaurant also claims to have veg and non-veg food options in the platter from the Himalayan region.
