The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has decided to reconstruct a Hindu temple that was set ablaze and vandalized by a mob in the Teri area of the district of Karak. The Karak Hindu temple was burned by a mob last Wednesday, comprising youngsters, elders, and children, drawing criticism from human rights activists and religious minorities.
Pakistan’s top Islamic advisory body, the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII), has approved the construction of a temple in Islamabad, despite resistance. The council has though approved the construction yet it mentioned in its decision that it did not support provision of the government funds for the construction of the temple because “there is no such tradition in the country.”
Days after the government stopped construction of the first Hindu temple in Islamabad, a man is seen in a viral video reciting Azan at the site. In the video, a man can be seen standing on the foundation of the temple as another person accompanying him watches on. Recently, a local young boy damaged the foundations of the under construction Hindu temple.
