Pakistan to lead global efforts to combat climate change

Imran Khan emphasized about climate change to an audience of green financing innovators the need for reaching a one billion tree plantation goal in order to protect the nation’s environmental future. According to him, it is imperative to establish national parks and plant trees in order to protect the environment for future generations. He recommended emulating China’s methods as the best option to create more urban forests.

The PM said it is encouraging that people are raising awareness about tree plantations and that even school children are participating in the drive. Despite contributing less than 1 percent to global carbon emissions, Pakistan is on the list of the most vulnerable countries to global warming due to glacier melting.
