Mexican mayor tied to truck, dragged through street in protest

Mexican mayor Escandon dragged through the town in southern Mexico from the back of a pickup truck by the angry farmers in protest. The mayor was dragged several meters down the street before police stepped in and freed him. Escandon inculpated the farmers of trying to coerce him.  The attackers were demanding more public resources, including direct cash transfers, for their rural community according to the State prosecutor.
