Hasan Minhaj left fans devastated after he announced an end to his much acclaimed show, Patriot Act on Netflix. The former Daily Show correspondent took to Twitter to deliver the sad news and thanked his team for making the show an immense success. Many critics are upset about the only South Asian representation on a massive level being taken away.

Government to demolish Monal restaurant in Islamabad: Zartaj Gul

Minister for Climate Change, Zartaj Gul has said that the government has decided to demolish the Monal Restaurant on the top of Margalla hills in Islamabad. The restaurant, which is famous for its picturesque views is built on Margalla National Park, which is against environmental laws of the country. Margalla Hills area is included in the National Park where cutting down trees without permission is prohibited.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will finalize in October the masterplan for Pakistan’s first Digital City, which it expects to serve as a hub for high technology, innovation, and create thousands of new jobs. Pakistan Digital City will be located in Haripur district of KP, a province which for years was a site of militancy and military operations and only in the recent past regained stability.

GAVI vaccines alliance to immunize 20 per cent Pakistanis of COVID-19 for free

Vaccine alliance Gavi is going to supply Pakistan with COVID-19 vaccine doses to immunize for free 20 percent of its 225 million population. Gavi is a public-private partnership that helps provide vaccines to developing countries. It has signed an agreement with Pakistan to provide 90 million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, once it is ready.

Kangana Ranaut lashes out at Aamir Khan for saying his kids will follow Islam

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has lashed out at Aamir Khan and questioned the actor on his take on secularism over an old interview where Khan had said his children will follow Islam. Taking to Twitter, Kangana’s team shared the interview of Aamir wherein he opened up about his personal life and told that his kids would follow only Islam despite his wives being Hindu. 

Pakistan-born astrophysicist becomes first woman dean at MIT’s School of Science

Pakistan-born astrophysicist Nergis Mavalvala has been named the new dean of  Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) School of Science. Mavalvala will be the first woman to serve as dean at MIT’s School of Science. Mavalvala has received numerous awards and honors for her research and teaching, and since 2015 has been the associate head of the department of physics at the MIT.

Pakistan recorded highest ever workers’ remittances in month of July: PM Khan

Pakistan’s workers’ remittances reached an all time high in the month of July, the first month of fiscal year 2021, at $2.77 billion, the State Bank reported on Monday. Prime Minister Imran Khan announced the news on Twitter, alling it “more good news” for Pakistan’s economy. July’s remittances improved by 36.5% compared to remittances recorded last July, which were $2 billion.

UAE minister says UAE-Israel agreement is a ‘sovereign decision’ not directed at Iran

The United Arab Emirates’ agreement to normalise ties with Israel was a “sovereign decision” that was not directed at Iran, UAE minister of state for foreign affairs Anwar Gargash said on Monday. Speaking on Saturday, Rouhani said the UAE had made a “huge mistake” in reaching a agreement to normalise ties with Israel and called it a betrayal by the Gulf state.

Engineering graduate from NUST sets up fruit stall due to lockdown

An engineering graduate of the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) established a fruit stall during the lull of Covid lockdown to support family and put ‘theory into practice’. Usman Ashraf, a resident of Kasur, recently completed his BS in Electrical Power Engineering from NUST on a need based scholarship. The youngster used to sell vegetables in Matric too.

Ceiling at recently built Islamabad airport collapses after heavy rain

A new video surfacing on social media shows portions of the Islamabad International Airport’s (IIAP) ceiling crashing to the ground due to recent heavy rains. Parts of the roof fall incessantly at Islamabad airport’s departure lounge as rainwater drips in and a puddle can be seen on the ground in the video, with people being forced to walk around to avoid it.
