IBA Karachi expelles student for exposing harassment allegations on social media

IBA Karachi has expelled a student after he exposed an alleged case of harassment on campus. Mohammed Gibrail was punished for reporting the incident on social media rather than using the IBA’s “right channels” developed for that purpose. Gibrail posted on Facebook about an incident at the IBA’s finance department on August 25.

He heard the manager of the department screaming at a female employee and saying, “Mein tumhe puri raat betha kar rakhoon ga.” IBA released a statement shortly after dismissing the student and asserted that, in making this decision, its Disciplinary Committee endeavored to “ensure the safety of students”.
