Governor SBP says surge in dollar price is good for overseas Pakistanis

Reza Baqir, Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is under criticism after saying that the surge in dollar price against the Pakistan rupee is good for many people in the country. During the press conference in Manchester, the Governor SBP said that the depreciation in the Pakistan rupee (PKR) might be hurting some people but it is also benefiting overseas.

The low exchange rate has allowed these people to earn more money, according to the Governor SBP. This statement has, however, led him to a lot of controversy on social media where people have drawn attention to inflation and the negative impact on prices of essential commodities from the surge in dollar prices.
