FO rejects CNN reports of agreement regarding use of Pakistan’s airspace by US

Pakistan Foreign Office on Saturday denied the CNN report claiming that a formal agreement for the use of Pakistan’s airspace by the United States to conduct military strikes in Afghanistan. The FO clarified that there was “no such understanding” between the two countries. The CNN report cites three “sources close to the details of a classified briefing” to US Congress.

According to CNN, the Biden administration has informed US lawmakers that the country is poised to reach a formal deal with Pakistan. According to the report, Pakistan expressed a desire to sign a MoU in return for assistance with managing India’s relationship and its own counterterrorist operations.
