Pakistan to import three million Chinese Cansino vaccines in mid-April

Pakistan will import Chinese Cansino Biologics Covid-19 vaccines in bulk to package three million doses locally, said Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar. The bulk vaccine received will be formulated, sterilised and packed in Pakistan. For this purpose special equipment has been procured and manpower is being trained. The bulk dose will arrive in mid-April.

Royal Saudi Air Force delegation arrives in Pakistan for PAF counterterror exercise

A Royal Saudi Air Force delegation has arrived in Pakistan to join a multinational air exercise designed to maximize the combat readiness of participating countries. The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is hosting the two-week-long Aces Meet 2021-1 exercise which has brought together some of the best pilots in the world. The United States Air Force will also participate in the exercise.

Maryam and Fazl both put off political activities for some days after reporting fever

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman have both postponed their political activities for the next few days after reporting ill health. Maryam had also been tested for Covid-19 and results were awaited. Maulana Fazl is currently resting at his residence in Dera Ismail Khan while condition improves.

Indoor and outdoor weddings banned across country due to the rising coronavirus cases

The National Command and Operation Centre has banned both indoor and outdoor weddings due to the alarming rise in coronavirus cases across the country. The new restrictions will be imposed from April 5 and last throughout Ramazan, Federal Planning Minister Asad Umar said on Sunday. However, provinces will be free to implement restrictions early in time as per the situation on the ground.

Pakistan Rangers arrest man for impersonating an army officer to extort citizens in Karachi

Pakistan Rangers have claimed to have arrested an impostor, who was allegedly impersonating an army officer to commit various crimes in Karachi. The held suspect was a resident of Moosa Lane, Lyari, and would present himself as a colonel deputed in a sensitive agency. He used the fake credentials to extract large sums of money from people with the promise to provide admissions in medical colleges, jobs and even degrees of various academic institutes.

COVID-19 vaccine drive in country widens, citizens aged 50 and above next in line

Asad Umar, the head of Pakistan’s National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has revealed that the country would now start registering people aged above 50 years to receive the coronavirus vaccine, starting March 30. He encouraged everyone in that age bracket to get registered. Registration for people over 60 is ongoing. The two-dose Sinopharm vaccine is being given in this phase. 

Regular flight operations to Swat resumed by PIA after 17 years

The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has restored its regular flight operations to Swat after a gap of 17 years. The restoration of flights to Swat was aimed at boosting tourism in the scenic valley, with two flights operating from Islamabad every week. The operation will connect with flights from Karachi and Lahore. The flights to the city were earlier closed due to financial constraints and terrorism.

Pakistani girls bag three Guinness World titles after defeating India and Sweden

Two Pakistani girls have bagged three titles in total from the Guinness World Records after defeating India and Sweden. Emma Alam from Karachi, broke 2 world records, and teammate Syeda Kisa Zehra, broke 1 World Record. Both Alam and Zehra broke the world record in fictional dates previously held by India; however, the latter scored higher than the former’s record and thus got the Guinness World Records title.

Pakistan’s oldest person to get vaccinated in Karachi has lived through two pandemics

A 100-year-old Pakistani, who received a coronavirus jab earlier this month, has lived through two pandemics and is believed to be the oldest person in Pakistan to get vaccinated. Israil Ahmed Menai, a resident of Karachi, urged people to take necessary precautions against COVID-19 and get themselves inoculated to prevent the spread of the disease, saying there was no ‘rational’ reason to mistrust vaccines.

Pakistan Army wins gold medal at International Competition held in Nepal

A team of Pakistan Army has won a gold medal and clinched the title of the “Best International Team” at the 4th COAS- International Tri-Adventure Competition held in Nepal. Overall, a total of 20 teams of international armies from all over the world took part in the event that was held between 18 to 21 March. Pakistan Army participated in the International Tri-Adventure Competition for the first time.
