US Secretary of State Blinken announces aid to Gaza, vows to reopen the Jerusalem consulate

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US would reopen its Jerusalem consulate, a diplomatic link between the United States and the Palestinians. In addition, Blinken reiterated that Washington intends to ensure Hamas does not benefit from humanitarian aid, which could be a difficult task in a tightly controlled enclave.

US Secretary of State Blinken announces aid to Gaza in his meeting with Mahmoud Abbas. The United States will provide an additional $75 million in development and economic assistance to the Palestinians in 2021. Moreover, $5.5 million in emergency disaster relief for Gaza. Additionally, $32 million to the UN Palestinian agency that helps the Palestinians.
