China to set up 19 new factories in Gwadar

Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing has announced that China will be setting up 19 factories in Gwadar. Yao Jing said that the measure will help create job opportunities for Balochistan’s youth. “China seeks to contribute to the development of Balochistan’s mining, agriculture, fisheries and water sectors while the Chinese consulate is easing visa procedure for the provincial business community,” said Jing.

Ayodhya verdict: Babri Mosque land handed over to Hindus

The Supreme Court in India has ruled that the site in Ayodhya in northern India, where Hindu mobs destroyed the 460-year-old Babri mosque in 1992, must be handed over to a trust to oversee the construction of a Hindu temple. A separate piece of land in Ayodhya would be given over to Muslim groups to build a new mosque.

Historic Day: PM Imran inaugurates Kartarpur Corridor

Prime Minister Imran Khan has formally inaugurated the Kartarpur Corridor at a colourful ceremony. The historic event has paved way for Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit one of their religion’s holiest sites in Pakistan without needing a visa. Exports of manufactured leather goods grow by 10.41%

Exports of manufactured leather goods from Pakistan grew by 10.41% during the first quarter of the current financial year as compared to exports of the corresponding period last year. According to the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the export of leather garments increased by 11.48%. Other leather goods exports of the country also recorded a positive growth of 5.20%. i.e. worth $2.6 million as compared to to the exports of $2.5 million in the same period last year.

China starts providing 5G services for commercial use

China has launched 5G services in the country for commercial use by providing licenses to the country’s three telecom operators, including China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom. The companies have introduced 5G data plans for their users in the major cities of China. Some packages are depending on the speed instead of data allowance starting from 199 Yuan (PKR 44,00) for 500Mbps and some are some data-based packages which start from 128 Yuan (PKR 28,00) with 30GB data

HEC is working on a commercial policy to make universities self-sufficient

The government is working on a commercial policy for universities to make them self-sufficient, disclosed during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Science and Technology.  The committee was briefed on the financial constraints faced by COMSATS and other universities as well as problems being faced by the administration and students due to the shortage of funds, and on virtual campus regulations such as decrease in salary as well as student scholarship budget.

Khawateen Rozgar Services – A hope for women with ambitions

Khawateen Rozgar Services (KRS) was formed in November 2018 in the city of Peshawar with the purpose of empowering women in Pakistan. It provides job opportunities to women with ambitions, facing trouble to find a job and bearing issues like harassment  at workplace. Scientists develop battery for electric cars to charge in 10 minutes

Scientists from Penn State have developed a  battery that will get charged in just 10 minutes. The Lithium-ion battery uses in portable electronics and electric vehicles and would give 200 miles per ten minutes charge while maintaining 2500 charging cycles. The newly designed battery gives tough competition to the gasoline based vehicles as previously people had the fear that the charge would run out in the time of need. 

US president fined $2 million for misusing charity foundation

A judge has ordered US President Donald Trump to pay $2 million to an array of charities as a fine for misusing his own charitable foundation to further his political and business interests. New York state Judge Saliann Scarpulla imposed the penalty after Trump admitted to a series of abuses outlined in a lawsuit brought against him last year by New York attorney general’s office.
