Barcelona’s Suarez renews wedding vows, with Messi on guest list

Barcelona forward Luis Suarez and wife Sofia Balbi have renewed their wedding vows at a star-studded gathering in Uruguay. It was attended by Lionel Messi, Neymar and others. The celebration to mark 10 years of marriage took place in a luxury tourist complex near the coastal city of Maldonado. A crowd of football fans, including many wearing the Barcelona strip, gathered near the entrance as Suarez’s clubmates. 

Karachi listed among world’s 10 least liveable cities again

Karachi has earned a place on the list of the world’s 10 least livable cities in the Global Liveability Index 2019 for the second time. Karachi has been ranked at the 5th position. Sindh’s capital is marginally better to live compared to Tripoli (4th), Dhaka (3rd), Lagos (2nd) and Damascus (1st). In 2018, Karachi was ranked 4th. Vienna has been declared at the top of ten most liveable cities. 

BCCI confirms exclusion of all Pakistani cricketers from Asia XI matches

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that no Pakistani has been included in the Asia XI, which will be facing World XI in March. Both teams will be facing each other in a two-match T20I series and the matches will be played on March 18 and 21 at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka.

Indian actor Kushal Punjabi found dead in apartment

Bollywood actor Kushal Punjabi was found dead at his apartment in Bandra, western Mumbai. He was 42 years old. According to the police, the Ishq Mein Marjawan star’s body was found by his parents. An Accidental Death Report has been filed and further investigation is underway. Kushal was a popular television actor and also appeared in several reality TV shows. 

Pervez Musharraf files petition against death sentence

Former military dictator General Pervez Musharraf has filed a petition against his death sentence for suspending the country’s Constitution on November 3, 2017. His lawyer, Advocate Azhar Siddique, filed on Friday a review plea in the Lahore High Court. In his 86-page petition, Musharraf has raised objections against the paragraph 66 of the written order and it also claims  that Musharraf wasn’t given a chance to present his stance in the case. 

Turkey’s leading defense company opens its first office in Pakistan

Turkey’s leading defense giant, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) has opened its first office in Pakistan at the country’s National Science & Technology Park. The technopark was inaugurated by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, who also visited the TAI office. TAI’s deal is to sell 30 T129 ATAK helicopters to Pakistan and the company’s aim is to positively conclude the ongoing process. 

Pakistani girl wins 3 gold medals in a wrestling event in US

Nida Jamali, a Pakistani girl who hails from Sindh is currently studying in the US under the U.S Youth Exchange Program, has just won three gold medals in a female wrestling event. Nida developed interest in wrestling during her studies and recieved formal training before the event. The young athlete participated in three events of 116-pound categories and won all of them.

Malala Yousafzai declared ‘most famous teenager of the decade’

Pakistani education activist and Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai became the most famous teenager in the world of the 21st century, reported a UN review. UN News highlighted the events that happened between 2010 and the end of 2013 including Malala’s work in favor of girls’ education for 2012. UN News pointed out Malala’s journey and how she was known for speaking out in favour of the education of girls.

Sanaullah granted bail because of ‘lapses in prosecution’s case’

Rana Sanaullah was granted bail because of the “lapses in the prosecution’s case”, according to the court verdict released on Thursday.  The PML-N leader, however, argued that a false case was registered against him for political victimisation “as the petitioner being a vocal leader of the opposition was openly criticising the policies of the sitting government”, says the court document.  

‘Friends’ theme songwriter Allee Willis dies at 72

Allee Willis, who wrote the theme song for the hit television show Friends, has died at age 72. She died Tuesday of a “cardiac event,” The New York Times reported. Willis, who penned I’ll Be There For You — the theme for the long-running show Friends — as well as several hits by Earth, Wind and Fire, was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018
