Lahore’s Alif Laila book bus teleports children to another world

Parked in the corner of a small community park in Lahore’s Gulberg, the Alif Laila Book Bus is a safe haven for readers and an entry into the world of imagination.  Upon entering into the double-decker bus, you’re greeted by its ‘driver’: a stuffed toy behind the steering wheel. The library is colourful, with shelves full of books. Cushions and rugs are spread across the bus. 

Taher Shah is coming up with a new project

The Eye To Eye sensation Taher Shah has just dropped a hint for all of his fans and it looks like he is coming back with a new project. Shah Tweeted the news of his return and teased his fans with a picture of his eyes while saying “coming soon”. In 2016, Shah had received death threats after his cameo went viral, following which he departed from Karachi.

Bilawal offers MQM ministries in exchange for breaking alliance with PTI

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari offered Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) ministries in Sindh in exchange for the party breaking off its alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI). Bilawal said if MQM breaks off its alliance with PTI and manages to get Sindh its share in resources, the provincial government will “stand by [MQM] for the sake of Karachi’s people. 

Behroz Sabzwari clears the air on Syra-Shahroz divorce rumours

TV actor Behroz Sabzwari has rejected rumours circulating on social media regarding his son Shahroz’s divorce with wife Syra Yousuf. Behroz clarified that the two have not called off their marriage while noting that every family experiences disputes. He also said that Syra has been staying with her ailing father to look after him.

Karachi robbers use biryani to enter house

Four robbers tried to enter a house in Karachi’s Baloch Colony on Saturday using a plate of biryani.  One of the robbers had knocked on the gate with a plate of biryani in his hand. He impersonated himself as one of the neighbours. The owner of the house took the biryani plate from him and closed the gate.

Shahroz Sabzwari and wife Syra called it quits?

Recent rumors suggest that Syra Shahroz and Shahroz Sabzwari might have allegedly called it quits and the news has devastated many fans. The couple has been married for 7 years and parent a 5 year old daughter. The rumor also says that the marriage has allegedly ended because Syra found out that Shahroz is having an affair with a famous Pakistani model. But again, all of this is speculation by the public. Fans, of course, are hoping that this is just a bad rumor.

WAPDA breaks records for hydel power production in 2019

A record amount of hydel electricity was supplied to the national grid during the year 2019 by WAPDA. The hydel power stations owned and operated by WAPDA provided 34.678 billion units of hydel electricity – highest-ever – to the system in 2019. This quantum of generation is 6.321 billion units higher compared with last year i.e. 28.357 billion units. 

Human head transplant will be possible by 2030

A former neurosurgeon, who worked with the UK’s National Health Service claims human head transplants will become a reality by 2030. According to Dr Bruce Matthew, the revelation came to him while he was working on a science-fiction novel with futurist author Michal J Lee. He admits that the future process will be tricky because shifting the spinal cord intact is impossible.. 

Fawad Chaudhry calls for FIA-NAB merger

Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday called for the merger of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) into a single agency. Chaudhry also called for talks between the opposition and the government to ensure that such an agency could be formed. Currently, the two bodies are independent but their jurisdictions and operations overlap in some areas.

CNG stations open in Karachi for 12 hours

Hordes of citizens in Karachi made a beeline for compressed natural gas (CNG) stations on Sunday morning after operations resumed temporarily from 7am until 7pm. Sindh government held the Centre responsible for the ongoing gas shortage in the province. Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL )has held a meeting with the CNG leaders’ association and it was decided that a proper schedule will be announced in the next week according to which gas supply for CNG stations will be ensured.
