The Pakistan High Commission in London has received arrest warrants sent by the government for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. The high commission did not make an official comment on the development but sources confirmed that the mission had received the paperwork to serve the arrest warrants on Mr Sharif. All legal formalities and procedures would be followed in this regard.
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif informed the Islamabad High Court that it was not possible for him to return to Pakistan and surrender. The PML-N supremo informed the court of his inability to return through a review petition against the IHC’s order that had directed him to surrender before the court by September 10.

NAB has issued an arrest warrant for former prime minister and PML-N founder Nawaz Sharif in a case of giving illegal concessions on plots in 1986. Nawaz is accused of using his powers as Punjab chief minister in 1986 giving concessions to Jang Group and Geo TV owner Mir Shakilur Rehman on 54 plots in Lahore’s Johar Town.

The Punjab government has given former premier Nawaz Sharif three days to submit the required medical reports for seeking an extension of bail. In a letter addressed to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo, provincial home department said that a medical board had found reports submitted by Khawaja Haris on December 23 to be insufficient to form a conclusive opinion.
