Prime Minister Imran Khan gave approval to Pakistan Railways for suspending train operations until March 31 due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. The disease caused by the virus, COVID-19, has claimed six lives and infected more than 800 people across the country, as the authorities kick into action to stop the transmission of the virus. The government earlier retracted a notification issued on the shut down of the operations.

The National Assembly of Pakistan has passed “The Pakistan Ruet-e-Hilal Bill 2022” bill declaring unofficial moon-sighting by private bodies liable to punishment. According to the bill, no committee, entity or organisation by whatever name called, other than the federal, provincial and district committees for sighting the moon, shall operate in all over Pakistan or any part.
In a move that left many scratching their heads, a group of PTI defectors led by Fawad Chaudhry met Shah Mehmood Qureshi in Adiala Jail, apparently to convince the party’s vice chairman to desert Imran Khan. However, the meeting of the group also comprising former Sindh governor Imran Ismail, Aamer Kiani and Mehmoud Moulvi, which was “arranged” in a separate room of the jail, apparently failed to achieve its objective.
A shocking story run by major Indian media outlets to malign Pakistan has in fact turned out to be from India itself. Few days ago, Indian media outlets ran an unverified image of a padlocked grave stating that the practice was common in Pakistan for parents to protect the deceased bodies of their ‘daughters’ from being raped.
Remarks of former chief of army staff (COAS) General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa on combat preparedness were quoted ‘out of context’ said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday. Earlier it emerged that former COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa reportedly told two senior journalists that the Pakistan Army lacked the ammunition and economic strength.
