CAA extends partial airspace ban until June 28

The airspace restriction for flights to India, earlier due to end on 15th June, has now been extended until June 28. After the suspension on overfly operations, flights from Lahore to Delhi, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Sri Lanka and Urumqi were cancelled. However, there are no restrictions on the operations on the country’s western airspace, which is fully operational.

Metro bus fares increased from Rs. 20 to Rs. 30

As opposed to the Rs. 30 increment proposed by The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA), a Rs. 10 increase in the metro bus fares will now be implemented from July 1st, in accordance with the new provincial budget. As a result of the increased prices, the government subsidy to the service is due to fall by Rs. 800 million.

22-year-old blogger killed in Islamabad’s G-9/4 area

Muhammad Bilal Khan — with over 16,000 followers on Twitter, 48,000 on  YouTube channel and 22,000 on Facebook — received a phone called to go to G-9 area, where a man took him into forest and apparently stabbed him. Deceased’s father claims his son had no personal enmities but his only fault was to speak about the Prophet (P.B.U.H) and his companions. 

Punjab government to regularize illegal housing societies

With limited resources and numerous court proceedings concerning illegal housing societies and encroachments, Punjab government has decided to grant a policy of one-time regularisation to such schemes. According to FIA, 4,098 unregistered/illegal/ghost or on paper housing societies happen to be in Punjab. The proposed law suggests that Punjab government should focus on closing gaps in land development and property registration.

Complaint registered in Faisalabad police station against Fawad Chaudhry

The ministry of Science and Technology has said the “incident” between federal minister Fawad Chaudhry and journalist Sami Ibrahim should not be treated as a “clash between two institutions but as a conflict between two individuals”. A day ago, Ibrahim had filed a complaint against Chaudhry for slapping him, and accused him of using threatening language.

Passengers not to be screened thrice at Pakistani airports

As per new orders of Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), passengers traveling abroad will now be searched by Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Airport Security Force (ASF) and Pakistan Customs at the same counter, saving them the hassle of going through the screening process thrice which was causing a lot of inconvenience to the passengers and wasting time.

Meet Pakistan’s first space scientist from Balochistan at the University of Cambridge

Hailing from far flung village in Turbat, Balochistan, Dr. Yarjan Abdul Samad has made Pakistan proud by being the first Pakistani at Cambridge Graphene Centre, which researches and manufacture devices used in space.
