Three 2014 Wagah Border attackers sentenced to death

A special Lahore anti-terrorism court sentenced three men to death for the 2014 suicide attack at the Wagah Border. The court announced the verdict on Wednesday. It found three men, Haseebullah, Saeed Jhan and Hussain, guilty and sentenced them to death five times. It also imposed a 300-year imprisonment and life imprisonments on the men. They have also been ordered to pay a Rs10 million fine.

Pakistan army successfully test fires Ra’ad 2 cruise missile

Pakistan Army has successfully test-fired the air-launched cruise missile ‘Ra’ad-II,’ according to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Ra’ad 2 is an air to surface and underwater cruise missile, capable of delivering various warheads up to a range of 600 kilometers, according to military media wing. The training launch was part of a field training exercise of Army Strategic Forces Command for rehearsing the operational readiness procedures during day and night. 

President Alvi receives official request for Darren Sammy’s Pakistani citizenship

Peshawar Zalmi Chairman, Javed Afridi, has requested President, Arif Alvi, to grant Darren Sammy honorary citizenship of Pakistan. Javed did this in a formal request to the President, giving him the reason that Sammy was not only the first player to step ahead in bringing PSL to Pakistan, but he also loves the country from the core of his heart. 

Man files petition against Ehd-e-Wafa, asks court to halt episodes

A man, identified as Zeeshan has moved Lahore’s high court and filed a petition against the popular drama serial ‘Ehd-e-Wafa’. Petitioner has claimed that the drama has negatively portrayed politicians and media personnel. He said that the roles being portrayed in the drama painted a negative image of Pakistan internationally. He has also requested to halt the episodes of drama from airing. The case has been taken up by the court. 

Hacker creates a device that can unlock luxury cars

Hacker creates a device called “Keyless repeater” which costs $9,000 allows users to unlock most luxury cars. The hacker also stated that his device can only unlock a limited set of luxury cars having frequencies between 22 and 40k such as Audi and Porsche models released after 2014. Popularly known as “Evan Connect”, the hacker demonstrated his device’s application in a video.

Pakistan Railways to launch new train between Lahore and Gujranwala

Pakistan Railways is currently working on launching a new shuttle train between Lahore and Gujranwala, according to a statement from the department’s spokesperson. Quoting the federal minister for Railways, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, the statement said that the department is going to launch the facility soon. It mentioned that initially, the fare of this train service will be Rs. 100 per trip.

PFA seals factory producing fake carbonated drinks

Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed a factory that was producing fake carbonated drinks of different popular brands. During a raid in Korol Pind on, the authority discarded 2,026 liters of spurious drinks. During the raid, PFA also disposed of 5,000 liters fake drinks base, 870 liters Coca Cola, 652 liters 7-Up, 285 liters Dew, 130 liters Mirinda and 89 liters Sprite.

UK Declares Nikkah an Invalid Marriage Ceremony

Nikkah will no longer be considered a valid marriage ceremony in the United Kingdom. The Court of Appeal in the country has reversed an earlier decision from two years ago, which declared it a legal way of marriage.Judges said the fact they intended to have a further civil ceremony meant they must have known their Islamic marriage had no legal effect in the UK.

Solis Festival Islamabad trashed by crashers, canceled midway

The fourth edition of the EDM festival, Solis, in Islamabad last night was trashed by crashes and was canceled midway. According to a tweet, the show was crashed by people who did not have the tickets but the Solis Music and Arts Festival team immediately took to Instagram to issue an apology and explain the situation. 

Mohmand Dam to be completed by December 2025

The first unit of the Mohmand Dam will start operation by December 2025, according to Water and Power Development Authority Chairperson Muzammil Hussain. After the Tarbela Dam, the Mohmand Dam is expected to be the next big water project in the country. The Mohmand Dam was the fifth highest concrete-face rock-fill dam in the world and is expected to produce 800 megawatts of electricity and will enable the storage of 1.3 million acre-feet of water.
