PM Khan to announce Rs. 15 billion relief package to counter inflation

Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to introduce another Rs. 15 billion relief package to counter the uncontrolled inflation in the country. It was decided during a meeting that Rs. 15 billion will be used to provide an uninterrupted supply of household commodities to utility stores across the country. Along with that, the district and city administrations will be mobilized to keep a check on the prices of grocery items to curb price manipulation. 

Govt to reduce food prices, promises PM Imran Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that his government will announce on Tuesday measures to reduce the prices of basic food items. The premier said in a series of tweets that he understands the difficulties people have to go through due to inflation in the country. He also mentioned that the government is investigating the rise in sugar and flour prices. 

70 people arrested in Faisalabad for flying kites

At least 70 people were arrested and 50 cases were registered across Faisalabad in the past 24 hours for flying kites in the city despite a ban. As several people get killed or injured every year during the festival, the city police started a campaign against kite flying. The police conducted operations across the city to arrest people involved in flying kites and confiscated more than 200,000 kites. 

18 social media gangs operating in Rawalpindi

There are 18 social media gangs such as Triple Three and Tiger Gang that threaten and rob people are operating in Rawalpindi, according to the police. There are 35 to 40 members on average in each gang of ages between 18 and 25 having no previous criminal record, with Triple Three being the largest of all with 250 members. 

Islamabad police surround Lal Masjid after Maulana Abdul Aziz’s reentry

The Islamabad police have surrounded the Lal Masjid in Sector G-6 and unidentified people are not allowed to enter after Maulana Abdul Aziz reentered the mosque. Aziz headed the mosque at the time of the 2007 Lal Masjid siege. He has been in the mosque for two weeks, talks between him and the government have been under way. 

Hamza Shahbaz granted bail in Ramzan Sugar Mills case

PML-N leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz has been granted bail in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case. A two-judge Lahore High Court bench granted him bail in the case on Thursday morning but he won’t be released yet. He was arrested in two cases–the Ramzan Sugar Mill case and money laundering case.

Court wants illegal buildings in Karachi demolished in one week

The Sindh government and Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar have one week to demolish all ‘illegal’ buildings in the city. The Supreme Court gave the order on Thursday while hearing cases on reviving the Karachi Circular Railway and removing encroachments in the city. The Railways secretary and advocate-general placed the blame on the federal government for causing the delay.

Pakistan about to receive 12 JF-17B fighter jets

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is all set to receive the first 12 of 26 dual-seat JF-17B Thunder aircraft in the near future, according to the revelation made by Air Chief Marshall, Mujahid Anwar Khan. The delivery of remaining jets will be completed in 2021. Out of the 12, 4 multirole fighters have been built at the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation (CAC) whereas the remaining 8 at Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) in Kamra.

Good times ahead, PM Imran assures Kashmiris

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday reassured the Kashmiris that good times were ahead that will lead to their ultimate freedom from Indian occupation, while addressing a Kashmir Solidarity rally in Mirpur. He reiterated support for the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mistake of annexing Kashmir will become the reason for the region’s independence.

Israel targets Gaza after projectiles, explosive balloons

Israeli aircraft struck Hamas positions in Gaza early Wednesday, the military said, after Palestinians in the enclave launched projectiles and explosive balloons at the Jewish state. According to army, the fighter jets targeted Hamas terror targets in the southern Gaza strip including a weapons manufacturing site.  Prior to the Israeli attack, militants in Gaza launched three projectiles and a number of “explosive balloons” at southern Israel.
