Punjab govt signs pact to construct small & intermediate dams

The Punjab government recently signed a pact to build small & intermediate dams to improve water supply. In a ceremony, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the provincial irrigation ministry and NESPAK. Consequently, modern drone technology will be used to evaluate the feasibility of building small and intermediate dams.

PIA Air Safari flies on its inaugural flight with 91 passengers

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) launched its first Air Safari flight as a way to promote tourism in Pakistan. The airline’s first scenic Safari flight left Islamabad International Airport with 91 tourists, including foreign nationals from13 countries. Sadpara Air Safari will operate from the Islamabad airport every Saturday, and a one-way ticket will cost Rs25,000.

PM Imran aims to preserve historical sites across the country

The government of Pakistan is taking measures to preserve the historical sites of Pakistan. The PM said in a tweet, “Lahore Fort has been restored and preserved for future generations. My government is committed to preserving and restoring all our historic sites”. Moreover, Pakistan is home to several historical sites that represent old civilizations.

The GIK Institute was ranked highly in Pakistan and internationally purely based on its quality education. Moreover, rankings are determined by the societal impact of a university towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).

Statue unveiled in honor of Abdul Sattar Edhi by sculptor Ishaq Lehri in Quetta

A life-size sculpture of Abdul Sattar Edhi was unveiled in Quetta this week as a fitting tribute to his services. A 16.5-feet tall statue was crafted by sculptor Ishaq Lehri. The founder of the largest volunteer ambulance network in the world, Edhi died on July 8, 2016, in Karachi. In addition, Edhi dedicated his entire life to helping the poor of the country.

Pakistan loses nesting grounds for Green sea turtles by 30%

In Pakistan, Green sea turtles’ breeding declined by 30% in the last ten years due to environmental degradation and eroding habitats. The loss of traditional nesting sites has caused further threats to the already endangered Green sea turtles in Pakistan. Sandspit and Hawkes Bay, beaches in Karachi, are ideal nesting spots for rare green turtles due to their sandy shorelines.

KPK leads in IT sector with successful 5G tests in Peshawar

The PTCL Group and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) conducted 5G tests in Peshawar under the auspices of the Department of Science and Information Technology. During the demonstration, remote surgery, cloud gaming, and upcoming 5G applications in Pakistan were showcased. As soon as the infrastructure and systems are operational, surgeons will be able to perform surgeries in far-flung areas remotely.

Interior Ministry plans to open a women’s market in Islamabad soon

The Interior Ministry has decided to create a women’s market for them to operate their businesses and stalls in Islamabad. Police arrest TikToker Kashif Zameer for fraud with Engin Altan aka Ertugrul

A Turkish actor, Engin Altan, filed a complaint against TikToker Kashif Zameer, who was then arrested on fraud charges. The FIR was registered in Lahore at the Racecourse police station. Engin Altan was invited by Kashif for a shoot for Chaudhary Group of Companies, but no payment was made. In response to Engin’s compensation demands, Kashif terminated the contract.

HEC says 80% of Pakistan’s universities lack online learning equipment

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) reports that only 40 out of 205 universities have a successful learning management system. Additionally, 80% of Pakistani universities do not have proper online education. During the Covid-19 pandemic, scholars, students, and staff at Pakistani universities were forced to adopt online learning.
