Haniya Minhas, a Pakistani tennis player, has won the Association of Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) Tournament in Tajikistan. She defeated second seed Sumaya Tukhtaeva in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. Throughout the tournament, Hanniya performed very well and won all of her matches without losing a set. Haniya Minhas also became the first female ATF 14&U winner in Pakistan history.

Shah Hussain, main suspect in Khadija Siddiqui’s case, released from jail

Shah Hussain was released from jail after serving 3.5 years of his 5-year sentence for the Khadija stabbing case. Hussain was convicted in 2017 under section 324 of the Penal Code of nine years’ imprisonment for attempting to murder his classmate Khadija Siddiqui. However, a session court later reduced his prison term by two years.

Larkana family sets Guinness World Record for most children born on same day

Pakistani family made history by all nine members being born on the same day. Ameer Ali Mangi – a Larkana resident and teacher – received a certificate from Guinness World Records. The nine members of Ameer’s family, including his wife and seven children, were born on August 1. Moreover, they include 4 twins who were all born on the same date.

India uses Israeli spyware to spy on journalists’ cell phones including PM Imran

Several countries, including India, have used spyware made by an Israeli company to hack phones belonging to journalists and government officials. According to 17 media outlets, the India list includes at least one number that was once used by PM Imran. The Washington Post, the Guardian, Le Monde, as well as other media outlets investigated the extent of Pegasus’ use.

Sheikh Rasheed denies kidnapping of Envoy’s daughter, citing RAW agenda

Pakistan interior minister Sheikh Rasheed said on Sunday that the daughter of the Afghan ambassador in Pakistan has not been kidnapped. He said she merely disappeared without saying anything to anyone. In addition, he referred to this as an organized criminal plot by the Indian spy agency RAW. This is all part of RAW’s global conspiracy against Pakistan, he said.

Thieves steal ball and hockey from Hockey Olympian Samiullah Khan’s statue in Bahawalpur

In Bahawalpur, thieves stole a hockey stick and a ball from the statue of hockey Flying Horse Olympian Samiullah Khan. The statue of a legendary hockey player was installed in Khan’s hometown in honor of his contribution to the game. Furthermore, police in Bahawalpur confirmed that the statue of Olympian Samiullah Khan was installed about a month ago.

China, Pakistan plan free trade deal that includes carpet industry

China and Pakistan have included handmade carpets in their free trade agreement. It aims to create jobs for thousands of women working in the carpet industry in Pakistan. Pakistan’s hand-crafted carpet market has collapsed because of a number of trade-related challenges. Pakistan’s handmade carpet exports decreased from $300 million to $68 million in 2015.

Pakistan and Russia sign agreement for construction of 1,100-kilometer pipeline project

Pakistan and Russia have signed an agreement on a pipeline of approximately 1,100 kilometers. The pipeline will connect Port Qasim in Karachi with Lahore. The project is estimated to cost $2.5 billion and be completed by 2023. Moreover, the shareholders’ agreement Heads of Terms (HoTs) was signed on Thursday after four days of discussions.

President of Pakistan Arif Alvi Joins TikTok to spread positivity

In a post on his official Instagram account, Pakistani President Arif Alvi confirmed he has joined the popular video-sharing platform TikTok. Pakistan’s President announced that he joined the app with the aim of spreading positivity amongst the youth of Pakistan. The app was suspended by the Sindh High Court earlier this month. Consequently, the decision was later reversed.
