An Indian Sikh merchant, Sukhpal Singh Bedi, has donated his 900 square foot land for the construction of a mosque in celebration of Babar Guru Nanak’s 550th birthday and Pakistan’s inauguration of Karatarpur corridor.He handed over the documents of the land to Zahir Farooqui, the Nagar Panchayat Chairman. Farooqui thanked Bedi on behalf of the Muslim community for his gracious act.
A special delegation of over 500 Indian Sikh pilgrims have been allowed to visit Nankana Sahib for the celebrations of the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh religion. While meeting Chairman of Pakistan Tourism Board, Zulfiqar Bukhari, the Chairman of The Virdee Foundation, Peter Virdee, stated that over 500 million GBP (Rs. 96.5b) will be donated to Pakistan by Sikh businessmen to develop religious tourism. The meeting was organised between the two sides at Rembrandt Hotel, London, to discuss religious tourism and establishment of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.
